De Franse Lelie

De Franse Lelie is a antique trading firm near the centre of Meppel. We offer a variety of objects. This varies from furniture to a painting or from a nice piece of silver or to a Chinese porcelain ginger jar. In this site we like to give you an impression from the items we can offer you. We hope you will enjoy our site.

History:

As a son of antique dealer Joop Hulleman in the village Dedemsvaart, I grew up with the antique trade. When I was sixteen years I helped during the weekend to load and unload all kinds of old and antique items. Sometimes in the most different places in the region, but also in the Earldom Bentheim, Germany. Several years later I started to collect antique items myself.

The passion for antiques I must have inherited. I can enjoy the beauty of a well made piece of furniture, a nice bronze figure, or a painting. The adventure, the travelling, the meetings of special people, the stories of these people, and their backgrounds do give this profession an extra dimension. In the meantime we are dealing antiques for about 20 years. Not only in the region, but sometimes also all over the country. The adventure even brings us to Belgium, Germany, France and England.

The name De Franse Lelie:

The firmname "De Franse Lelie" (in english The French Lily) comes in the first place from our family arms, the symbol has to do with antiquity in general,  but also points out our love to France, especially the region Normandy, France. The symbol, in French fleur-de-lys, we also do encounter in the heraldry. Untill this far a small introduction about the start from De Franse Lelie. We hope you will enjoy our site.
